Back in February 2018 Scott, Eric, and I brought some bmx bikes to New Zealand.

The ‘purpose’ was to log some international volunteer time at the world famous Gorge Road bike park. Which we definitely did…

But we really spent the majority of our waking hours driving around the southern island in our Hyndai Getz while trying to keep it left.

They call it that because it just gets you there

One day we took the longest drive ever to the west coast to see the Tasman sea (and some glaciers and other neat stuff)

On another day we did a hike toward Mt. Aoroki to see Mt. Cook.

At one point Eric did get blown off of the trail

We definitely drank at least 1 bottle of wine with every meal. No, I’m not kidding. It’s just what you do.

A happy accident was our discovering of another set of trails, equally as impressive as Gorge, but without the ‘bike park’ vibe. Lizzy Woods is definitely a ‘trails spot’. Nested in some residential neighborhood in beautiful Wanaka lies some of the biggest and most sculpted mounds of dirt any of us had ever seen.
